Western Women’s Hockey Team Boycotts Games in Protest of Coach’s Return

Western University’s women’s hockey team is planning to boycott games and practices in protest of the return of a coach accused of pressuring players to play despite injuries. The players claim that their allegations of abuse by Coach Candice Moxley and other team leaders have been ignored. They are calling for a fresh investigation into the claims and criticizing the impartiality of the person chosen to handle the investigation. The players also want a full-scale investigation into Western’s entire sports system. The university recently dismissed longtime coach Jeff Watson, who was also named in abuse claims. The players believe that the university’s decision to allow Coach Moxley to return shows a disregard for the well-being of the students. They are demanding transparency and accountability from the university.
