Garbine Muguruza’s Tennis Future: A Break from the Sport and What Lies Ahead

Garbine Muguruza, the former world No. 1 in tennis, has recently announced that she has no plans to return to the sport anytime soon. Since January, Muguruza has not played a single match and has decided to take a break from the sport. Her current ranking has dropped to No. 1061 in the world. This decision comes as several other tennis stars, such as Roger Federer, Serena Williams, and Ashleigh Barty, have retired, and players like Naomi Osaka and Angelique Kerber have taken time off to focus on motherhood. Muguruza’s break seems indefinite, and she is looking forward to spending time with loved ones and catching up on lost time. She expressed her enjoyment of the break, as she was tired of the pressure and judgment from the media and experts. During her time away from tennis, Muguruza has been teaching Zumba, celebrating her 30th birthday, and even got engaged. Tennis no longer holds a place in her daily routine, and she is trying to stay away from the courts. Despite her absence this season, Muguruza does not see her break as a permanent move away from the sport. She plans to return after spending time with her family and recharging. In the past, Muguruza has experienced dips in form but managed to climb back up the rankings. The question remains whether she will be able to make a successful comeback and reclaim her position at the top of the tennis world.
