Rafael Nadal fans won’t have to wait much longer to see their favorite tennis player back on the court. Tennis Australia boss Craig Tiley recently confirmed that he has spoken with Nadal, who plans to make his comeback at the 2024 Australian Open. Nadal has been recovering from a hip injury and hasn’t played since this year’s major in Melbourne Park. In a recent press conference, Nadal revealed the extent of his injury pain and refused to set a comeback date. However, Tiley has now revealed that Nadal’s comeback may happen at the Australian Open. Tiley stated, ‘We can reveal exclusively here that Rafa will be back. He’s been off for most of the year, and in talking to him over the last few days, he confirmed he will be back, which we’re really excited about. That’s awesome.’ Tiley has been in contact with Nadal and mentioned that the 22-time Grand Slam champion is aiming to win the title in Australia. Tiley added, ‘He’s not going to come into the event unless he thinks he can win it. He’s not going to just show up to play, he’s going to show up to win. You always get your hopes up because you want people like Rafa to be here. He particularly is someone who loves Australia. So far the early signs have been really good.’ Despite Tiley’s comments, Nadal downplayed his chances of winning in Melbourne, stating that his dream is not to come back and win major tournaments. However, he expressed his desire to play again and be competitive. Nadal acknowledged that things can change quickly in sports. Fans are eagerly awaiting Nadal’s return to the court and are excited to see him back in action.
