BROGAN HAY was pleased to get off the mark for the season after breaking the deadlock in Rangers’ 3-1 win over Spartans earlier today.
The winger found the back of the net for the first time this campaign to set the Gers on their way as they claimed a ninth win in a row in all competitions.
Speaking to RangersTV after the game the 24-year-old says she was happy to find the target after opening the scoring just before the half-hour mark.
She said: “I was delighted to get on the scoresheet. It is something I have been working on in training this week with Jo is striking the ball a lot and trying to get shots at goal, so for it to come off in the game it was really nice for me to get on the scoresheet.
“I don’t think we played at our best. Some things we had worked on in training I don’t think we applied it to the game well enough.
“We made the game difficult at times, we didn’t really get to the standard that we know we can play at.
“At the end of the day we scored three goals and we have got the three points in the league and ultimately that is what matters but as a team we would like to bring the performance up every week no matter the opposition so it is something we need to work on.”
The Rangers number seven highlighted some work off the training pitch in the form of set pieces to help break down their opponents and says she was pleased the team were able to go on and see the match out after Spartans halved the deficit.
She continued: “It is something you know that is always going to come up in the game is set pieces. It is finding a way to take the advantage when we get in those moments and I think that we done that today and it is something that we work on a lot so to see it pay off was nice.
“Conceding the goal is obviously not good and it is unfortunate as well. I think that as a team we need to stick to the game plan and we continue going forward and as you seen we go on and we get the other goal to try settle us a bit.
“As I said at the start we made it more difficult than it should have been but we have got the three points.”
Hay was given a shirt to mark her 100th appearance for the club in the most recent Old Firm victory and she described the moment of being recognised for her achievement.
She added: “It has come around fast I feel but the club made it really special.
“They made a thing about it during the week at training and the touch today was really special to me so it is nice to have that to look back on and keep forever.”
