Hey everyone, check this out! The Indian women’s hockey team has made a stunning comeback to claim the sixth position in the world rankings. This is their best-ever ranking, and it’s all thanks to their outstanding performance at the Asian Champions Trophy and the Hangzhou Asian Games. They’ve really shown what they’re made of!
Before these events, the team was ranked eighth, but their incredible bronze medal win at the Asian Games and their unbeaten victory at the Asian Champions Trophy in Ranchi have pushed them up to sixth place. This is a huge achievement for the team, and it’s the best ranking they’ve achieved since the FIH Pro League last year.
The top three spots are still held by the Netherlands, Australia, and Argentina, but India has surpassed England to claim the sixth position with an impressive 2368.83 rating points. The teams ahead of India are Belgium and Germany, but the Indian women are definitely closing in on them!
This jump in ranking is a massive boost for the team as they gear up for the FIH Hockey Olympic Qualifiers, which are set to take place from January 13 to 19 in Ranchi. It’s going to be an intense battle as India takes on Germany, New Zealand, Japan, Chile, the United States, Italy, and Czech Republic in their quest to secure a spot in the Paris Olympics next year.
Let’s show our support for the Indian women’s hockey team as they continue to make us proud on the world stage!
