Layton High Basketball Stars Make College Moves

Two Layton High School basketball stars, KJ Miller and David Katoa, have officially signed with college basketball teams. Katoa has signed with the University of Utah, while Miller has chosen to play for Cal State San Marcos. Miller had other options like Cal State East Bay, George Fox, and College of Southern Idaho, and even heard from Air Force. He’s excited to continue playing the game he loves and believes that playing at a Division I college isn’t the only way to achieve his dreams. He’s looking forward to the opportunity to keep playing and prove himself on the court.

CSU San Marcos, located in San Marcos, California, has a strong athletic program and competes in the NCAA Division II California Collegiate Athletic Association. Miller, who played as a shooting guard for Layton High, is eager to join the team and make an impact. He performed exceptionally well at CSUSM’s basketball camp and received an invitation to visit the campus. His talent and hard work have earned him this opportunity, and he’s looking forward to the new challenge.

On the other hand, Katoa, a familiar name at Layton High School, has chosen to stay close to home by signing with the University of Utah. He had several offers from in-state schools and was even offered a place at New Jersey Institute of Technology. However, he felt a strong connection with Utah and decided to commit to the Utes. Katoa is impressed by the coaching staff and the family environment at Utah, and he’s excited to represent his home state on the basketball court.

Katoa’s journey to Layton High has been an interesting one. After playing at the Real Salt Lake Academy charter high school, he made the move to Layton High and quickly made an impact on the basketball team. Despite facing a setback due to a knee injury, Katoa is determined to make a strong comeback and hopes to be back in action by January.

For Katoa, being at Layton High is a meaningful experience, especially considering his initial plans to play football. In fact, he had received a football scholarship offer from Utah as a freshman, and now he’s back at the same school as a basketball star. It’s a remarkable journey for Katoa, and he’s looking forward to the next chapter of his basketball career.

Both Miller and Katoa are excited about their future in college basketball and are determined to make the most of this opportunity. Their hard work, talent, and dedication have led them to this point, and they are ready to take on the challenge at the collegiate level.
