Hockey India has just revealed the squad for the FIH Hockey Women’s Junior World Cup 2023, and it’s going to be a thrilling event! The tournament is set to take place in Chile from November 29 to December 10, and the Indian Junior Women’s Hockey Team is all geared up for the challenge.
The team will kick off their campaign in Pool C with a match against Canada on November 29, followed by clashes with Germany and Belgium on November 30 and December 2, respectively. The quarterfinals are scheduled for December 6, the semifinals on December 8, and the grand final will be held on December 10.
This time around, the team is determined to make a mark after finishing fourth in the previous edition and missing out on a medal. Preeti will lead the team as the captain, with Rutuja Dadaso Pisal serving as the Vice Captain.
Coach Tushar Khandker expressed his confidence in the squad, stating, “We have an incredible talent pool, and it wasn’t easy to finalize the squad. However, I believe we have selected the best players for the World Cup, and they have put in a lot of hard work in the lead-up to the event.”
He also mentioned that the players are thrilled about the opportunity to showcase their skills on the global stage, especially after their impressive performances in recent times. The team will undergo training and practice matches in Argentina before heading to Chile, which will help them adapt to the conditions and set the tempo for the Junior World Cup.
