Horsham Golf: A Day of Prizes and Fun
Last week at Horsham Golf, it was all about the prizes and the good times. Two Greensomes competitions took place, and the winners were none other than the lovely couples who know how to swing and have a great time.
The first competition was a mixed Horsham Ladies and Horsham Seniors get-together. The format was simple yet challenging, with teams of two playing off a combination of their handicaps. It’s a game of strategy and teamwork, where players take turns to tee off and choose which ball to continue with. It’s all fun and games until someone loses their partner’s ball, but when it’s smooth sailing, it’s a sight to behold.
What made it even more interesting was that the winning teams were all spouses. Ruth and Laurence Hughes took the top spot with 40 points, looking relaxed and victorious. Kim and Clive Limbrick secured the second position with 37 points, and Jane and Trevor White followed closely in third place.
The Wednesday Horsham Seniors, unfortunately, had to call off their Greensomes competition for the second time due to rain. However, the Tuesday Seniors braved the frosty conditions and ended their game under the bright sunshine. Howard Mannion and Roger Martin emerged as the champions with an impressive 42 Stableford points. Martin Jesty and Rob Neal-Smith claimed the second spot with 40 points, and Brian Botting and Keith Martin secured the third position with 39 points.
It was a close and enjoyable competition, with all the players giving their best on the course. The spirit of sportsmanship and camaraderie was evident throughout the event, making it a memorable day at Horsham Golf.
