Remembrance Day Was Commemorated With A Special Rugby Game Between Kells And The British Army. The Army Emerged Victorious With A Score Of 22-6 After A Fiercely Contested Match Played In The True Spirit Of The Game.
The Army Made An Early Breakthrough With Joeli Varo Scoring An Unconverted Try Just Four Minutes Into The Game. However, Kells Took The Lead After Ten Minutes When Grant Gainford Scored A Try, Which Was Successfully Converted By His Brother Ross Gainford. By Half-Time, The Army Had Regained The Lead With Varo Scoring His Second Try, Converted By Kieran Fleming.
In The Second Half, The Visitors Extended Their Lead With A Third Try From Peceli Sugavanus, Which Was Converted By Fleming. The Only Other Score Came In The Dying Seconds When Aaron Houghton Scored The Fourth Army Try, Once Again Converted By Fleming.
Reflecting On The Game, Kells Coach Peter Smith Commented, “It Was A Tough Match, And We Found Ourselves Trailing At Half-Time Due To Two Interception Tries. In The Second Half, We Pushed Hard But Couldn’t Break Through. Right At The Final Whistle, The Army Secured Their Fourth Try To Seal Their Victory. It Was A Highly Competitive Game, Played In The True Spirit Of Remembrance Day.”
