Exciting Wins in Scottish Hockey Premiership

The Grange men and Watsonians women both secured impressive wins in the Premiership, and even Jack Frost made an appearance. Grange took the lead against Edinburgh University in just eleven minutes, with Aussie Dylan Bean scoring from a penalty corner. Bean struck again before the interval, and youngster Archie Stephen sealed the victory with a tap-in. Although Luca Muller scored for the students, it was only a consolation. Grange manager Martin Shepherdson expressed his delight with the win, acknowledging that there is still room for improvement. Meanwhile, Watsonians women beat Grange women, and the frost thwarted the chasing pack.

In other matches, Western Wildcats moved into second place with a seven-goal win, and Hillhead secured a 4-2 victory at Clydesdale. Inverleith also claimed a 3-2 win over Uddingston, while Watsonians were held to a 1-1 draw at Grove Menzieshill. ESM emerged victorious with a 3-1 win over Dundee Wanderers, and Watsonians women overcame a stubborn Grange defence to win 3-0.

The icy pitch caused frustration for some teams, with matches being called off and abandoned. Despite this, GHK secured a 5-0 win over Uddingston, and St Andrews University triumphed with a 3-1 win at Inverleith. In the women’s Premiership, Hillhead and Gordonians shared eight goals, leaving them at the foot of the table.

Overall, it was an eventful round of matches in the Premiership, with some teams consolidating their positions and others facing unexpected challenges.
