Novak Djokovic just smashed it against Alcaraz and now he’s all set for a showdown with Sinner in Turin. The World No. 1 dominated the semi-final, winning 6-3, 6-2 in just 88 minutes. Djokovic was on fire, showing his best game and sealing his third victory in four clashes with Alcaraz this year. He didn’t give Alcaraz many chances to attack and broke his serve in each set. Now, he’s all geared up to face home favorite Jannik Sinner in the championship match.
Djokovic was pumped after the match, saying, “After spending a lot of time on the court in the first three matches, I wasn’t sure how I was going to feel tonight. This year I wasn’t maybe as sharp in the second and third group matches, particularly, but I think tonight from the very beginning I felt the ball well. I approached the match with the right attitude, the right mentality, and I knew from the very first point it was going to be greatly intense. He had break points right away, 15/40 in the first game. That’s Carlos. He always brings out his best in these kinds of matches and starts with a lot of high qualifty tennis and intensity. You’ve got to match that, try to weather the storm, and I did that.”
This year, Djokovic and Alcaraz have had some epic battles, including Alcaraz’s win in the Wimbledon final and Djokovic saving match point to win in Cincinnati. But this time, Djokovic was in control from the start and clinched the win indoors.
With this victory, Djokovic is now just one match away from becoming the champion for the seventh time. He had a tough time in the group matches, with his only loss coming from Sinner. The final match between Djokovic and Sinner promises to be an epic showdown.
Djokovic will be aiming to avenge his group defeat and become the third player in six years to do so. It won’t be an easy task, but Djokovic has done it before, bouncing back from a group loss to Federer in 2015.
The match didn’t start smoothly for Djokovic, as he found himself 15/40 down on serve in the opening game. But he turned it around with some big serves and went on to win the first set. Alcaraz struggled to break through Djokovic’s defences, despite serving 10 aces. Djokovic took the lead in the second set and sealed the victory with some flawless tennis.
Djokovic is now all set for the final showdown with Sinner. It’s going to be an exciting match, and we can’t wait to see who comes out on top!
