Outstanding Field Hockey Players Shine in All-Region Team Selection

Three exceptional players from high schools in the Berks Field Hockey League have been honoured with selection for the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA) All-Region Team from Pennsylvania. The prestigious first team of 16 members includes Oley Valley’s senior midfielder Morgan Snyder and Twin Valley’s senior goalkeeper Maddie Stevens, while Oley Valley’s senior midfielder Taylor Vaccaro secured her place on the 11-player second team. In addition, Boyertown’s junior midfielder Peyton Shellaway also earned a spot on the second team.

Morgan Snyder, who was named the Berks Player of the Year and a two-time All-Berks selection, demonstrated exceptional performance with 23 goals and 15 assists, totalling an impressive 61 points during the season for the Lynx. This outstanding achievement positioned her as the second-highest scorer in the BCIAA in terms of goals and points, and she was tied for second place in assists. Snyder’s exceptional talents have secured her a spot on the Penn State team for the upcoming season.

Maddie Stevens, a remarkable four-time All-Berks pick and a second-team All-Region selection in the previous season, played a pivotal role in guiding the relatively inexperienced Twin Valley team to a commendable 10-10 record and qualification for the Berks and District 3 Class 2A playoffs, displaying impressive goalkeeping with seven shutouts. Stevens is set to join the Liberty team for the upcoming season.

Taylor Vaccaro, a two-time All-Berks selection, delivered an exceptional performance with a league-leading 32 goals and 15 assists, accumulating a league-best 79 points for the Lynx. Vaccaro’s outstanding skills have secured her a place on the Delaware team for the next season.

Both Snyder and Vaccaro played instrumental roles in Oley’s remarkable triumph, contributing to their victories in the Berks, District 3 Class 1A, and PIAA Class 1A championships.

The NFHCA committees, comprising esteemed coaches, meticulously review and evaluate nominations submitted by member coaches to make the All-Region selections.
