The recent game between Augustana University and Omaha resulted in a 5-2 victory for Omaha, leaving the Vikings at a 4-7-1 record while the Mavericks moved to 8-3-1.
The game saw an early lead from Omaha, with junior defenseman Victor Mancini scoring a wrist shot from just behind the blue line. This momentum carried through to the first period when Tyler Rollwagen scored his first goal of the season. Augustana’s Luke Mobley responded in the second period with his fifth goal of the season, but Omaha’s Jimmy Glynn and Jacob Guevin extended their lead in the third period, ultimately securing their victory. The game ended with an empty net goal by Omaha’s Jack Randl and a goal by Augustana’s Brady Ziemer.
Throughout the game, there were 13 penalties assessed, creating numerous special teams’ opportunities for both teams. Despite Augustana’s efforts to rally in the later periods, Omaha maintained their lead and emerged victorious.
Looking ahead, Augustana will be traveling to Marquette, Michigan for a two-game series against Northern Michigan.
