Big Matchup for La Salle Women’s Basketball Against Penn

The women’s basketball team of La Salle University is preparing for an upcoming match against the Penn Quakers at the Cathedral of College Basketball on Wednesday evening at 6:00 p.m.

La Salle, boasting a 3-2 record overall and 0-1 in Big 5 play, will go head-to-head with Penn, who also holds a 4-2 record with the same 0-1 standing in Big 5 contests for this season.

In their most recent game, La Salle secured an impressive 72-44 victory over the Rider Broncs in Lawrenceville, N.J. The team’s performance was highlighted by a standout showing from junior transfer Gabby Turco, who contributed 16 points and six rebounds. Additionally, freshman Nicole Melious showcased her three-point shooting prowess, adding to the team’s point total with three successful shots from beyond the arc.

The Explorers also managed to tie a season high in field goals made against Rider, with Turco leading the charge with an impressive 7-10 shooting from the field. The team achieved a season-high of 20 total assists, with Molly Masciantonio leading the pack with five assists. The Blue & Gold pulled in a total of 50 rebounds, with 11 of them secured by Jolene Armendariz.

On the other hand, Penn recently returned to The Palestra after a successful three-game stint in California, where they achieved a 2-1 record. Junior guard Stina Almqvist has been a standout performer for the Quakers, leading the team in scoring and averaging an impressive 19 points per game in her six appearances this season. In their last victory against UC San Diego, Penn showcased their strength, securing a 76-68 win.
