Fordham University Men’s Basketball Faces Off Against FDU Knights at Historic Home Court

The Fordham University Rams are preparing for an exciting game against the FDU Knights as part of the 2023-2024 season, marking Fordham’s 121st varsity season. The game is scheduled to take place at the iconic Rose Hill Gym on Thursday, November 30, at 7:00 p.m.

In addition to being an exhilarating basketball event, the Ramses Challenge, a charitable initiative supporting the university’s student-athletes, will also be held during the game. Individuals can pledge for every rebound, offensive rebound, steal, or assist. The proceeds from the pledge are tax-deductible and directly support the men’s basketball program. Alternatively, supporters can make a one-time contribution to the men’s basketball team.

This game has an additional incentive as it is Fordham’s Dunks After Work game, with free tickets available to faculty and staff. Attendees are encouraged to stay after work to enjoy the exciting contest against last year’s NCAA Tournament darlings.

The game will be televised live on SNY and streamed on ESPN+. The hosting line-up includes Andrew Bogusch and Maria Trivelpiece, among others. The game can also be heard on WFUV (90.7 FM) and on the WFUV Sports YouTube page, offering comprehensive coverage of the event to all.

As the game approaches, Fordham enters with a 3-3 record, following a resounding 93-61 victory over Manhattan College in the Rose Hill during the annual Battle of the Bronx. On the other hand, FDU has a 4-4 record after a 97-86 loss to Robert Morris at the Urban-Bennett Memorial Classic.

The upcoming showdown will be the fourth encounter between the Fordham Rams and the FDU Knights. The Rams have won the previous three meetings, with the latest being a 53-50 victory in the Rose Hill Gym on November 13, 2019.

Several key players have been integral to Fordham’s success so far. Senior guard Japhet Medor leads the team in scoring and assists, averaging 14.2 points per game and 3.3 assists per game. Additionally, sophomore forward Joshua Rivera has been a strong contributor in scoring and rebounding, averaging 10.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per game.

Furthermore, senior guard Kyle Rose has made a significant impact with 158 career steals, ranking him tenth for all-time steals at Fordham. Senior forward Abdou Tsimbila has been solid on the defensive end with nine blocks in five games, averaging 1.8 blocks per game, placing him sixth in the Atlantic 10.

The Rams have successfully retained their student-athletes, with no losses to the transfer portal in the last season. Looking ahead, the team will continue the season by facing off against the Tulane University Green Wave at the Rose Hill Gym on Sunday, December 3, at 1:00 p.m.

As the big game approaches, excitement is palpable. With the Fordham University Rams fully prepared and eager to showcase their talent on the court, the clash with the FDU Knights promises to be an unmissable spectacle at the iconic home of the Rose Hill Gym.
